Tokyo Motor Show
Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. hosted the 41st Tokyo Motor Show 2009 from Oct. 24th to Nov. 4 in Makuhari Messe. The show attracted 614,400 people.
This number, however, was less than half of the visitors to the show last year.
The exhibition area was also cut in half. The main reason is likely the global depression that
followed the financial crisis triggered by the fall of Lehman Brothers.Visitors to the show, nevertheless, enjoyed a large variety of automobile display. Among the 41 new models, 19 were the so call eco cars, electrical or hybrid. The two models that attracted most attention and people with digital cameras were Nissan GT-R, winner of the 2009 Motor Trend Car of the Year (shown in the left photo), and Lexus LFA (in the right). MSRP for the former starts at $69,850, and for the latter, the web is full of information starting around $250,000 to over half a million. Even if we are eco conscious, it is still these big super-power machines that tickle the minds of auto lovers.
